3. Find a small example of a business or Web program, choose a function or subroutine and explain its purpose.

Variable answer. The goal is to encourage students to (a) understand that code is everywhere, and (b) be able to at least read the code. Note that some code is unreadable—particularly if it is on the Web and the authors are trying to protect the code. If nothing else is available, have the students examine a function in the Rolling Thunder Bicycles database.
