5. Research the issues involved in electronic voting. What problems need to be overcome? What technologies could be useful? Does an electronic voting system have to be perfect, or simply better than the existing manual system?

Interestingly, most trials of electronic voting systems report (e.g., Georgia) show that most people prefer the electronic systems to the mechanical ones. It helps that the systems can adapt and display text in large enough sizes for people to read. But, it is not likely that these systems will ever leave the voting booth.
